The New Tradition of Joseph A. Bank (Chapter 1)

After a long and very public transaction, Men's Wearhouse Inc. acquired one of it's largest competitors in the tailored men's clothing retail landscape, Joseph A. Bank. In Spring of 2015, we began the challenge of elevating the Joseph A. Bank brand, refining it's visual expression and separating it from the other brands in The Men's Wearhouse family. As Sr. Creative Lead, I worked closely with our Creative Director to transition existing MW creatives and brought on new talent to form the highly collaborative JAB team that I manage today.
Our first line of attack, where we knew we could immediately affect change that was desperately needed, was in-store signage which launched in September of 2015. We developed the redesign around a "classic with a twist" concept rooted in the 100+ years of heritage behind the brand and the classic menswear styles that it continues to refine season after season. Typography mixed classic and modern elements. Color palettes were updated and streamlined. Photography emphasized product quality and elevated the casting, infusing each collection with character.
Below is a small sampling of the before and after.
